IL RITROVO WITH PAOLA VOJNOVIC

Ritrovo, the rendezvous. An opportunity to delight in all things Italian – culture, art, history, experiences, travels, inspirations, and the beauty of everyday life.

I am pleased to share that our first il ritrovo of 2021 was with Paola Vojnovic, an extraordinarily dynamic young woman – a Serbian-American residing in Italy for over twenty years – who grew up with a desire for education as her parents encouraged her to follow her dreams and pursue her passions.

One of the most beautiful and brightest women in Florence today, Paola is a Renaissance Art Historian and Culture Management expert, with deeply-rooted experience in international arts projects and fundraising for culture in Italy. Paola is also a curator, published author, and research scholar as well as a sought-after private tour guide in Tuscany. She is the recipient of a prestigious Renaissance Florence Fellowship from Syracuse University and has been active in the arts and culture since 2001.

"As you follow along with us, I hope you imagine yourself roaming the streets of Florence arm in arm with someone you hold dear."

I have been traveling to Italy for over 40 years and I feel incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon Paola in 2017.

We first met when Paola gave my husband, Bill, and I an intimate tour of Florence, and we’ve returned to her several times since then welcoming numerous family members, friends, and colleagues to become entranced by her as we were. As you follow along with us, I hope you imagine yourself roaming the streets of Florence arm in arm with someone you hold dear listening to Paola’s melodic voice as she shares snippets of her life in Italy and her incredible experiences as someone deeply involved in the arts. We reminisce on the incredible renovation of Santa Croce (home to Michelangelo’s tomb), Paola’s Venetian Master Class featuring leading scholars such as Ross King (Brunelleschi’s Dome), her favorite works of art, and her love affair with Venice whom she often refers to as her “mistress”.

Participating in an internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection over 20 years ago fueled Paola’s love affair with the magical city on water, Venice.

In addition to creating custom tours for individuals and families, Paola also designs cultural programs for specialized small groups, and acts as a liaison between museums and clients to provide special behind-the-scenes access ensuring unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for travelers.

As life slowly begins to ease back to the “new” normal, I encourage you to contact Paola and schedule a tour the next time you are in Italy. Her knowledge is exceptional, her presence heartwarming, and her demeanor enchanting. I am incredibly grateful for our beautiful friendship and the moments we’ve shared together.
